What is Axe Throwing?

It's exactly what you think it is! Whether on-site at our location downtown La Crosse or utilizing our mobile unit, we bring you the excitement of throwing axes/hatchets at some big 'ol targets! A "simple" concept that's more fun than a clown on fire! :)

Are there age restrictions?

Yes, though this may differ depending on whether at our downtown location or if we are coming to you.

Overall, there is a minimum age of 12 years old to throw axes AND age restrictions in general to be on-premise (see below), no matter where we are and of course this requires a parent/guardian to sign all necessary waiver requirements as well.

Our downtown location:

From opening time until 8pm we are a restaurant/axe throwing/vintage arcade experience and allow all ages with parents/guardians when eating, playing, & throwing axes. 18-21 are currently also allowed without parents/guardians UNTIL 8pm (this is subject to change without notice if we deem the change is necessary). If you are part of a mixed group of 18-20 years olds and 21+ we reserve the right to NOT serve alcohol to anyone in your group to ensure no one underage is consuming alcohol on premise here. ----->>>ONLY 21+ are allowed on-premise after 8pm. <----------

What this means for you =

Until 8pm we allow parents to bring their kids (throwers must still be 12+ years old). No one with or without parents under 21+ are allowed after 8pm. Meaning... you MUST NOT reserve ANY lanes starting after 7pm and if ANYONE in your group is under 21+ they will be required to leave at 8pm.  Again, we do require everyone to be a minimum of 21+ after 8:00pm. If you are under 21+ you will be required to vacate the premises at 8:00pm. If anyone tries to subvert this they will be asked to leave with no refunds.

Mobile Unit: It depends on the venue, if we are at an establishment that serves alcohol, then their rules regarding under 21 year olds on premises are in place, though everyone must still be a minimum of 12 or older.

Is it safe?

Absolutely, though understand that these are axes are being used  and YOU and others are required to be responsible people! No matter the activity there is always a possibility of of an injury, but we do our darnedest to mitigate the possibility the best way we can. We are fully insured and teach safe throwing methods within a controlled environment. Each of our lanes are "caged", so even if the axe bounces off there is no ricochet into bystanders, etc. Our lane coaches/axe-perts will help guide you how to hold, aim, throw an axe from the beginning to end of your experience.

Will it damage my floor? (Mobile Events)

Not if we can help it! We utilize large mats under throwing lanes to protect the ground from any axe drops. It should be no more damaging than having the same customers/guests you already having on your floor.

What does it cost?

We have various pricing options depending on whether our downtown location or our mobile unit. Please see pricing page for more details. Additionally, pricing is subject to change at our, or the venues/events, discretion.

Terms & Conditions

Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Being late means you'll be cutting into your reserved time. The lane(s) will most likely be reserved after you, so unfortunately we are not able to push your times back if you are late.

You and your ENTIRE group MUST be a MINIMUM of 21 years old or older AFTER 8pm, be with their parent/guardian, or be participating in a pre-set event with The Driftless Axe management. There will be NO refunds for individuals that attempt to book and subvert this rule. We serve alcohol on premise and have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on underage drinking.

Because we are a restaurant and experience facility, we do allow under 21 to eat and throw until 8Pm, in other words, if ANYONE in your party is under 21 (and not accompanied by a parent or guardian) do NOT schedule your lane(s) any later than 7pm. At 8pm anyone under 21 (again, not with parent or guardian) WILL be asked to vacate the premises.

We are VERY serious about individuals behaving in a responsible manner on-site....let's face it, we're throwing axes! There is NO excuse to behave inappropriately while here. We LOVE that we are able to bring this experience to La Crosse and have every intention on not going anywhere, which means you will be expected to follow ALL rules and requests for your safety and ours.

Thank you and we can't wait to see you soon!
